This holiday ornament is etched with the image of Salt's fluke.
Salt is the most famous humpback whale in the world! This black & white pattern is unique to each humpback whale, allowing researchers to identify individual when seen offshore. Salt was the first whale to be named and she was named by Capt. Aaron Avellar for the extensive white scarring on the top of her dorsal fin, like someone "salted it." Salt is a mom who has successfully raised many humpback calves and now has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren in her family.
This holiday ornament highlights Salt's ventral fluke (tail) pattern etched in wood (3.25 inches in diameter).
